The 2026 Full Moon Theatre workshop at Hooke Park with the AA Visiting School was a remarkable journey of technical and artistic growth, and it has been a true honor to build something so magical together in the woods. Organized and led by our technical director Francesco Anselmo and research director Yunni Cho, this year’s workshop allowed us to successfully refine our Hypatia reflectors by integrating acrylic mirrors, achieving much cleaner and brighter reflections within the forest setting. These technical advancements were captured beautifully by Alexandre Camerlo, who joined us to share the rich history of the Full Moon Theatre and document the essence of our work through his lens.
This atmospheric environment provided the perfect stage to collaborate once again with the incredible Teatro Vivo team, where, under the reflected and concentrated light of the full moon, we witnessed the performance of Kas Darley and Mark Stevenson’s compelling new piece, TRIBE. Exploring a young warrior’s rite of passage inspired by Irish mythology, the show was brought to life by the captivating performance of Coco Emmanuelle Wheeler, the music of Jonathan Whitwell on the nyckelharpa, the accordion of Francesco Anselmo, and the evocative lighting and puppetry of David Duffy.
Beyond the stage, our journey into organic design took an exciting new turn this year through a special workshop organized by Emma Coates exploring the art of natural dyeing. By extracting pigments from avocado and pomegranate skins as well as wild clay, we began a new exploration of organic color and costume design that we look forward to expanding in the future. We owe a huge thank you to the global community of participants and collaborators who brought such dedication to the project, including Emma Welton for the use of the drum, and Lyndie Wright and Nelson Haas for the beautiful puppets that graced our stage. We also extend a special thank you to Hall & Woodhouse for sponsoring the community with their amazing beer throughout the workshop. It has been a privilege to see this story unfold in the woods, and we leave inspired by the collaboration and spirit of everyone involved.
