We have created a video to capture the experience of the March 2023 and March 2024 workshops.
It shows the key moments of the Full Moon Theatre workshops in Hooke Park, from design to construction and performance.
The workshops spanned over periods of 4 days and included lectures about the history of the projects, the physics of moonlight, lighting simulation and parametric design of the reflectors.
After the lectures, we built together moonlight reflectors of various sizes and the big aluminium frames that hold the large format Hypatia and Aristarchus reflectors.
We were lucky to have a few clear night skies and the presence of Jonny Whitwell and his nyckelharpa.
The sound of this wonderful Swedish medieval folk instrument and Jonny’s performance illuminated by moonlight have been the highlights of this shared experience. We were able to prove that it is possible to use the feeble moon rays to see colour among the darkness of the forest at night.
This inspired us even more to continue this project and the “wonderful laboratory” initiated thirty years ago by Humbert and Peter.
Looking forward to March 2025!
